Marc Chagall — Original Works & Prints | The Art Howse Global

Marc Chagall (1887–1985)

20th Century Master | Dreamlike Modernism & Poetic Symbolism

"Woman at the Window" (1968) Pierre Matisse portfolio. Lithography on Arches.

Marc Chagall was a Russian-born French artist known for turning personal memory, folklore, and emotion into vivid, unforgettable images. Born in 1887 in a small Jewish village in what is now Belarus, he drew deeply from his childhood, faith, and experiences of displacement, filling his work with floating figures, animals, and scenes of village life.

Although he lived and worked in major art centers like Paris, Chagall never fully aligned himself with any single movement, instead blending modern styles such as Cubism and Fauvism with a deeply narrative approach. He worked across many mediums, including painting, stained glass, prints, and theater design, believing art should speak to the heart as much as the eye. His work feels intimate and imaginative, offering viewers a sense of wonder rooted in lived experience.
