About This Work
American Pop, State 2 is the second iteration of one of Burton Morris's most ambitious print compositions — a large-format meditation on American iconography that rewards comparison with its companion, State 1. In printmaking, a “state” represents a distinct version of a plate or screen: a deliberate evolution of the image, not a copy. State 2 carries the same graphic DNA as State 1 while offering a different chromatic or compositional reading — the same subject seen through a shifted lens.
At 45 × 40 inches, American Pop, State 2 commands the wall with the same authority as its companion. Collectors who acquire both states gain something richer than either work alone: a dialogue between two versions of the same vision, a study in how meaning shifts when the variables change. For those who already own State 1, State 2 is the natural complement.
Edition & Technique
Hand-pulled silkscreen on Coventry cotton rag archival paper — 100% cotton, acid-free, and built for permanence. Each impression individually pulled through the screen by hand, signed by the artist from an edition of 250. A large-format work at this edition size represents exceptional value within the Morris print market.
