About This Work

Burton Morris takes Dorothy’s incantation and subjects it to his signature Pop treatment, transforming a phrase of pure feeling into an image of graphic force. The ruby slippers, the yellow brick road, the dream of return: Morris distils the mythology of The Wizard of Oz into something immediate, joyful, and unmistakably his own.

The diamond dust surface — finely ground glass applied across the image in green, blue, and purple — gives the work an almost magical shimmer, entirely appropriate to its source.
