About This Work

Derrière le Miroir was the celebrated review published by Galerie Maeght in Paris from 1946 through the 1980s, featuring original lithographs by the greatest artists of the era — Chagall, Miró, Calder, Giacometti, and Braque among them. Issue #246 is among the final Chagall contributions to the series, making it a significant late document of his printed work. Maeght was Chagall's primary European gallery for the last decades of his life.
