About This Work
The Invisible Man is one of Dalí's most psychologically charged subjects — a work that places perception itself under interrogation. A figure both emerges from and dissolves into its landscape, challenging the eye to locate what the mind insists must be there. It is a quintessential expression of Dalí's Surrealist method: the double image, the hidden form, the subconscious made visible through technical mastery and conceptual audacity.
The original painting dates from 1929–32, one of the most fertile periods of Dalí's career, when his engagement with Freudian theory and optical illusion was at its most intense. This lithograph reproduces the work with exceptional fidelity, enhanced by an embossed Dalí crown and signature in the lower left corner — a mark of authentication and distinction that elevates it beyond a standard print.
Edition & Authenticity
This impression is an EA (Epreuve d’Artiste / Artist Proof) — pulled aside from the main edition of 300 for the artist’s personal use and approval. Artist proofs are traditionally the finest impressions of any edition, produced before the numbered run begins, and are considered more desirable by collectors precisely because of their scarcity and status. Signed in pencil by Dalí and embossed with his crown and signature.
