About This Work
Herd on the Street is Burton Morris doing what he does best — taking the symbols of a culture and rendering them so boldly, so graphically, so perfectly, that you see them as if for the first time. The dollar sign, the pig, the bull, the bear: four icons of Wall Street mythology, each carrying centuries of financial folklore, transformed through Morris's Pop lens into objects of pure visual pleasure.
The title is the joke and the insight simultaneously — the “herd” on the street, the animal spirits that drive markets, the crowd psychology that turns rational actors into stampeding masses. Morris finds the comedy in capitalism without losing sight of its drama. These are works that belong in a trading floor corner office and a contemporary art collection in equal measure.
Available as individual prints — choose your subject — or as the complete Quad, all four images together on a single 30 × 40 inch sheet. The Quad, limited to just 100 impressions, is the collector's choice.
Edition & Technique
Silkscreen on 100% cotton rag 2-ply museum board — an exceptionally robust substrate that combines the archival quality of fine art paper with the rigidity and weight of board, eliminating the need for backing and ensuring the work holds its form for generations. Singles are from an edition of 375; the Quad is limited to 100 — a significantly scarcer object.
